How Much Do Dental Implants Cost in Chicago?

Dental Implants · August 7, 2026 · 5 min read

If you've started researching dental implants, you've probably noticed something frustrating: almost nobody puts a straight answer on the price. Here's our honest attempt at one. What do implants generally cost in Chicago, why does the number move, and how do you compare quotes without getting burned?

The short answer

In Chicago, a single dental implant (meaning the implant post, the abutment, and the crown on top) most commonly lands somewhere in the range of a few thousand dollars, with many complete cases falling between roughly $3,000 and $6,000 per tooth. Some cases cost less, complex ones cost more. Anyone quoting a rock-bottom price for "an implant" is usually quoting only one piece of the puzzle.

Why the price varies so much

  • What's included in the quote. The implant post, abutment, and crown are three components. Low advertised prices often cover only the post, the part you can't even see.
  • Your bone. Implants need enough healthy jawbone to anchor into. If a tooth has been missing a while, a bone graft may be needed first, which adds cost and healing time.
  • Imaging and planning. 3D scans and surgical planning are part of doing implants safely. They should be in the quote, not surprise add-ons.
  • How many teeth. Replacing several teeth doesn't always mean one implant per tooth. Implant-supported bridges can replace multiple teeth more efficiently.

The questions to ask before you say yes

  • Is this quote all-in (post, abutment, crown, imaging, and follow-ups)?
  • Will I need a bone graft, and if so, what does that add?
  • If something needs adjustment during healing, is that covered?
  • Who places the implant and who makes the crown?

A trustworthy office will answer all four without flinching. If the quote gets vague when you ask what's included, that tells you something too.

Is an implant worth it?

Compared to a bridge or a partial denture, an implant is usually the more expensive option upfront, and usually the cheapest one over 20 years. It doesn't decay, it doesn't need neighboring teeth ground down for support, and it protects the bone in your jaw from shrinking the way it does under a missing tooth. That's why implants are the modern standard of care for tooth replacement.
